HOME	Ludlow Griscom American ornithologist Ludlow Griscom accompanied Kenneth K. Mackenzie during his 1920 and 1921 botanical trips along Newfoundland's southwest coast, and Merritt Lyndon Fernald on his botanical expedition to Newfoundland's Great Northern Peninsula and Southern Labrador in 1925. Renowned as a birder, few people knew of his remarkable botanical exploits. His personal plant collections amounted to about 40 000 herbarium sheets, and he both discovered new plants, and described them.
