In 1921 and 1922, Kenneth K. MacKenzie botanized the southwest coast of Newfoundland,
including the "limestone" areas. His traveling companion was the well-known American ornithologist
Ludlow Griscom.
A successful corporate lawyer in Maplewood, New Jersey, MacKenzie came to be recognized as an
authority on the North American sedge genus Carex.
