Newfoundland Rare Plant Project
|
In 1999, the "Newfoundland Newfoundland Rare Plant Project" was created by the Provincial Wildlife Division,
in an attempt to gain a better understanding the rare plants of the Province, in support the Government's
rare plant conservation responsibilities.
The background, history, and achievements of the Project are laid out in a still very useful
website (2001),
and in two additional documents
[here (2004), and
here (2008)] .
Much of the work of the Rare Plant Project has been concentrated on the plants of our "limestone" regions.
While the Rare Plant Project is presently more-or-less dormant, the Provincial Wildlife Division continues to do field work
investigating the rare plants of the Province.
